Education Buildings and the Planning System – Getting the Right Result, Fast: Barrie Davies, Asbri Planning

The presentation will set out an ideal A-Z methodology for achieving planning permission for your Education Building, addressing:

  • The importance of an initial Planning Appraisal
  • How to undertake effective Pre-Application discussions with the LPA
  • How to undertake public and stakeholder engagement
  • The do’s and don’t’s of the Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) Process
  • Identification of the appropriate level of supporting Plans and Technical Assessments
  • Effective monitoring of the planning application
  • Avoidance of onerous planning conditions
  • Ensuring a prompt start on-site through discharge of conditions

Planning for Schools – ten schools for the price of none! Simon Gilbert, Cardiff Council

This presentation will look at Cardiff’s approved ambitious plans to deliver in excess of 40,000 new homes by 2026. Huge areas for expansion have been planned with schools delivery at the heart of new urban neighbourhoods. The Master Planning Principle is embedded in delivery of new growth; 10 new schools can be delivered and funded by developers at no cost to the taxpayer; and collaborative working across professions is essential to securing delivery.
