Jon James is a Director at Scott Brownrigg who helped to establish the Practice’s award-winning Cardiff studio. Graduating with a first class diploma in design, Jon has built a strong architectural portfolio across all sectors and is an RIBA registered conservation specialist. He is part of the Practice’s Operations Group and is responsible for the management of the Cardiff studio working closely with the Board Directors.
Jon was instrumental in the design development and delivery of the 2013 BREEAM Education Award winning scheme – Coleg Cymunedol Y Dderwen Comprehensive School in Bridgend County, Wales. The school achieved a BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ rating at design stage with 89.82% and is also an exemplar project for the Low Carbon Research Institute. He has also been responsible for a number of other secondary education projects including the University Technology College (UTC) in Swindon, the London Design and Engineering UTC in Docklands, Ditton Park Academy, Great Western Academy in Swindon, Merchants and Venturers Academy in Bristol and Brecon High School. He is currently working on three new primary schools; West Clyst, Kingsteighton and Merchants and has developed an autistic specialist all through school in Bristol.
Jon has lectured at the Welsh School of Architecture and is also a technical examiner. He regularly speaks at industry conferences including the Education Estates annual conference, the Low Carbon Research annual conference and the Excitech BIM conference.
