Simon is the Strategic Development and Placemaking Manager at Cardiff Council, having worked for the Authority for 24 years. Earlier in his career, Simon was responsible for preparing Cardiff’s City Centre Strategy, delivering successful economic regeneration and environmental enhancements within the city centre and Cardiff Bay. Simon is passionate about the role planners can and should play in shaping new and existing environments, through working closely with communities, stakeholders and across the professions. Simon now leads the Strategic Development and Placemaking Team, which brings together a number of professional disciplines including Development Management, Urban Design, Conservation and Masterplanning. Simon is responsible for delivering Cardiff’s ambitious plans for growth by embedding the masterplanning principle in new developments, including significant urban extensions and major brownfield regeneration.
