Biography

Carly has 10 years’ experience working in the Education Sector at AtkinsRéalis and has gained experience on schemes from early years, through to higher education, and including school design for pupils with Additional Learning Needs.

Carly has been in engaged in differing capacities on School projects across South Wales since 2017, supporting various local authorities to deliver schemes under the Sustainable Communities for Learning funding programme.

She often works from the outset of a project, working with stakeholders to develop user-centric project briefs through to concept designs that take a holistic approach in response to key education drivers including curriculum reform, equity and equality amongst learners, and wellbeing.

More recently Carly has worked on a number of projects relating to ALN design from RIBA Stages 0-1 onwards. This has included: small settings within mainstream schools, through to large specialist ALN schools, and accommodating ages 3-19 years, and a range of pupil needs. In addition to design, Carly has worked closely with the AtkinsRéalis’ in-house R&I and Spatial Analysist teams developing digital tools for pupil engagement at brief development stages and also pre/post occupancy stages to understand pupil experience for continuous learning and improvement to support establishing the use of tools on projects.
