Biography

James is a partner in Sheppard Robson’s Manchester studio and a member of the practice’s design review group. Whilst his experience covers numerous building types, James specialises in designing inspirational spaces for teaching and learning.

His ability to work closely with end-users to envisage and create engaging spaces has seen him push the barriers of education design, engaging with the political and cultural —as well as pedagogical—context of individual projects.

James is also a faculty member at the Liverpool University School of Architecture, where he teaches postgraduate design and has co-curated a series of exhibitions in Liverpool, Rome, Milan and Dublin on the 20^th Century British architects Stirling, Wilford and Associates.
